An Introduction to the Hanneys

The Hanneys have a rich and varied past which is slowly being revealed.  We are conscious of the gaps in our knowledge but are often asked for a summary of the histories of two separate but inextricably linked communities. The notes below this introduction are an overview of these backgrounds, prepared for the overall Hanneys village website by Ann Fewins and Paul Sayers, long standing members of the group. They offer the key points in over two thousand years of Hanney history. The group would welcome any offer of supplementary or alternative information and obviously would encourage anyone interested in the Hanney story to visit the group at one of its meetings, walks or exhibitions.
